Dr. Gaillynn Clements is a socio-historical linguist whose research originally focused on rural Southern U.S. speakers. Her work specifically explored gendered speech ways through social network analysis. She has also worked on pedagogy in language teaching and learning, specifically, linguistic integration and preparedness for TESOL and MA language teachers. She has also researched and published in linguistic discrimination in academia and ADA compliance. Her courses at WFU utilize discourse analysis from various perspectives as writing strategies for academic and commercial use in 21st century writing. Publications include: Linguistic Discrimination in US Higher Education: Power, Prejudice, Impacts, and Remedies (Routledge, 2nd edition forthcoming 2026) and Linguistic Foundations for Second language Teaching and Learning (Cambridge UP, 2025).
